Eight Thousand Miles of Hometown Feelings

Love and care from the Western Australia Guangdong Association and General Chamber of Commerce

On April 10, 2019, a serious traffic accident occurred on a T-section of the road one hour away from Geraldton in northern Perth, causing three young people from Guangdong, China (two working holidaymakers and a Chinese student studying in Canberra) to varying degrees. One of the more seriously injured, Mr. Zhu, was from Foshan, Guangdong. He received first aid at Geraldton Hospital immediately after the accident. However, his condition was serious, so he was immediately transferred to the Royal Perth Hospital and placed in the hospital's ICU (Intensive Care Unit). Ward) for many days of treatment and the first abdominal surgery.

On the evening of April 11, the day after the accident, staff from the Chinese Consulate General in Perth contacted the Western Australia Guangdong Association and General Chamber of Commerce (hereinafter referred to as the Guangdong Association), hoping to get support and help from the Guangdong Association. The injured in Guangdong need help during the treatment process and housing for those with minor injuries.

Nostalgia is deep in our hearts. As soon as the Guangdong Association learned the news, Cai Jiayi, vice president and secretary-general of the Guangdong Association, led a group of people from the Guangdong Youth Department to the ICU (Intensive Care Unit) of the Royal Perth Hospital to find out about the seriously injured student Zhu. At that time, he was still waiting for abdominal surgery and could not speak.

Seeing this situation, everyone felt very sad. The Guangdong Youth Department promptly reported the situation to President Qian of the Guangdong Association (President Qian was on a business trip) and the Board of Directors, and sought support from the Board of Directors. Ms. Cai Liurong, vice president of the Guangdong Hometowns Association, was very concerned after learning about the incident, and sincerely invited the slightly injured and youth department representatives to dine at one of her catering companies to learn more about the situation, and said she would fully cooperate with the Hometowns Association to provide support. assist them.

On April 14, President Qian learned that the injured person needed long-term rehabilitation treatment. Considering the accommodation issues for his family members and friends who were traveling with him who were slightly injured, he arranged for Cai Jiayi, vice president and secretary-general of the Guangdong Association, and Sikuo Yang, Minister of Economic and Trade A hotel close to the hospital was immediately arranged for them to stay at ease, and the hometown association paid for the hotel expenses for a week. On April 18, the Guangdong Youth Department met with the mother of the injured person who had just arrived in Perth to comfort and accompany her. After completing the second operation, Zhu was transferred to the general ward. As Zhu’s injury improved, the Perth General Hospital The consulate and President Qian were also very concerned after returning to Perth.

Especially after the incident, the consulate paid great attention to this matter and constantly contacted the Guangdong Association to inquire about the latest situation. After Zhu successfully completed the second operation on April 13, he was transferred out of the ICU on the 15th. Although he was still under serious injury observation, he could not eat normally or get out of bed. After waiting for the injury to be relatively stable, he was transferred to the hospital on April 19. , Deputy Consul General Jin Qian, Consul He Yifan of the Consulate, President Qian Guiyuan and Executive Vice President Liao Jianzhang of the Guangdong Association, Vice President Cai Jiayi, Minister of Economic and Trade Sikuo Yang and the youth department Zheng Difu visited classmate Zhu in the Serious Trauma ward. .
