Western Australia Guangdong Association and Western Australia Guangdong Business Association

Western Australia Guangdong Association and Western Australia Guangdong Business Association (the following referred as the "Guangdong Association") is an organization dedicated to promoting exchanges and cooperation between Western Australia and Guangdong. It was co-founded by Guangdong (native) compatriots and entrepreneurs in Western Australia in Perth, the capital of Western Australia, Australia on February 13, 2014. The founding board members donated about 800,000 Australian dollars in cash and materials, purchased more than 8,000 square meters of land, and established a Guangdong Association Hall and Activity Center of more than 1,000 square meters; it has three major departments in Australia, namely the Economic and Trade Department, the Youth Department and the Golf Club, and has liaison offices in various prefecture-level cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area; it has more than 1,000 members and more than 100 corporate members. It is a Chinese community trusted and recognized by governments at all levels in Western Australia, the Chinese Consulate General in Perth, and overseas Chinese affairs departments at all levels in China. In November 2018, in accordance with the national foreign economic deployment and the overall planning and deployment of the Guangdong Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial Government to "bring in" and "go global", and based on the needs of overseas Guangdong investment enterprises, the Western Australia Guangdong Chamber of Commerce was established under the guidance of the the Guangdong Chamber of International Commerce, becoming one of the first overseas Guangdong Business Associations in the world.

 

The purpose of the Guangdong Association is to build cultural, business and economic links between Western Australia and Guangdong, to assist overseas Chinese from Guangdong, care for overseas Chinese students, forge friendships, and make compatriots feel at home in a foreign land. It aims to provide assistance to new immigrants, guide them along the right path, set examples for building a harmonious overseas Chinese community, and promote cooperation and exchanges in cultural, economic, and trade between Australia and China. Since its establishment, the Guangdong Association has actively organized activities and member gatherings to promote contacts and exchanges between Guangdong people, strengthen unity and mutual assistance; provide a business platform to promote business cooperation and development opportunities among members, share business resources and experience, and build a business network; hold traditional cultural activities and celebrations to promote Chinese culture and strengthen members' recognition and understanding of Chinese traditions; participate in community services and charity activities, give back to the society, and pay attention to the well-being of members and the community; and play an active role in promoting economic, trade and cultural exchanges and cooperation between China and Australia and people-to-people exchanges.
